Two Twisted Crowns - 3.5 Star Review

There’s something undeniably captivating about Two Twisted Crowns - it pulls you back into its dark, misty world like a story you can’t quite let go of.

As a sequel, it builds beautifully on the eerie atmosphere and unique magic system introduced in One Dark Window. The world feels deeper, the stakes feel higher, and there’s a stronger sense of urgency driving the story forward. You can tell this is where everything is meant to come together.

One of the standout elements is how the story leans further into its darker, more unsettling tone. There’s a constant sense that something is shifting beneath the surface, and that tension keeps you engaged.

However, while the plot moves forward, the pacing felt uneven at times. Some moments rushed past emotional beats that could have hit harder, while others lingered a bit too long. I found myself wanting a little more depth in certain character arcs and relationships, especially given how strong the foundation was in the first book.

That said, the atmosphere, the magic, and the overall concept still carried the story. It’s immersive, strange, and beautifully moody - just not quite as impactful as the first installment for me.

Overall, Two Twisted Crowns is a solid conclusion to a dark and unique duology, even if it didn’t fully reach the emotional depth I was hoping for.
